Just Walk · Last updated: October 6, 2026
Introduction
On World Tech LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Just Walk mobile application and its Apple Watch app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses and where it goes.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Just Walk is designed to keep your data on your device and in your own iCloud account, not on our servers. We do not operate servers that receive your data, and we never see your steps, walks, or streaks.
Information We Collect
Health & Fitness Data (via Apple HealthKit)
With your permission, Just Walk reads the following from Apple Health:
- Step Count — To display your daily steps and track progress toward your goal
- Walking + Running Distance — To show distance walked
- Active Energy — To show calories burned during walks
- Heart Rate — For the Fat Burn Zone feature (requires Apple Watch)
- Date of Birth — To estimate your age for your Fat Burn heart-rate zone (you can also enter your age yourself)
- Workouts — To show your walking history
Just Walk also saves your completed walks to Apple Health as walking workouts (with distance and active energy).
Important: This health data is:
- Processed on your device
- Never uploaded to our servers
- Never shared with third parties
- Never used for advertising or marketing
- Never sold to anyone
You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Just Walk.
Motion Data
Just Walk uses your iPhone's motion sensors to count steps and measure your walking cadence in real time during walks. This stays on your device.
Location (Walk Routes)
If you allow location access, Just Walk uses your location only while you are on a walk, to draw your route on the map. Location tracking continues while your screen is locked during an active walk, and stops when the walk ends. The app asks only for "While Using the App" access.
Your walk routes are stored on your device and, if iCloud sync is on, in your private iCloud account (see below). Maps are provided by Apple Maps. The app also looks up your approximate city and region once through Apple's location services to create distance comparisons (for example, "you walked the distance across your city"); only the city and region name are kept, on your device. If you don't grant location access, you can still use the app without route maps.
iCloud Sync
iCloud sync is on by default if you are signed in to iCloud, and you can turn it off in the app's Settings. When it is on, Just Walk uses Apple's CloudKit to store a copy of the app's own records in your private iCloud account, so they can sync across your devices and be restored. This includes your streaks and shields, your daily goals and which days you met them, your walk records (time, duration, walk type, cadence, and route), your program progress, and your settings (including your display name).
Health data is kept out of iCloud: step counts, walking distance, active calories, heart rate, Fat Burn Zone results, heart-rate-based trends, your age, and any heart-rate medication setting stay only on your device. On another device, Just Walk reads your steps, distance and calories from that device's Apple Health instead. Data in iCloud is stored by Apple under your Apple Account; we cannot access it.
Apple Watch
The Just Walk Apple Watch app can run your walks as workouts. During a walk, it shares live stats (such as steps, distance, calories, and heart rate) with your iPhone over Apple's secure connection between your paired devices, and your iPhone sends your streak, goal, and today's steps to the watch. This data does not pass through our servers.
Notifications and Photos
Reminders and walk alerts are local notifications scheduled on your device. If you choose to save a walk share image, the app asks for permission to add it to your photo library; it does not read your photos.
Purchase Information
If you subscribe to Just Walk Pro, your payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not have access to your payment details, credit card number, or Apple ID.
Data We Do NOT Collect
Just Walk does not collect:
- Your email address or contact information
- Your contacts or photos
- Device identifiers for tracking purposes
- Analytics or usage data sent to external servers
Just Walk has no account sign-up, no ads, no analytics, and no AI features.
How We Use Your Information
The data described above is used solely to:
- Display your step count and walking progress
- Show your daily goal progress and streak
- Coach your walking pace and provide real-time heart rate feedback during Fat Burn Zone walks
- Show your walk routes on a map
- Record completed walks as workouts in Apple Health
- Sync your data across your devices through your iCloud account, if enabled
We do not use your data for any other purpose.
Data Storage & Security
Your health and fitness data remains on your device, within Apple's secure HealthKit framework, and (for the app data described above) in your private iCloud account if sync is on. We do not operate servers that store your personal information.
App preferences (such as your step goal) are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms.
Third-Party Services
Apple HealthKit: Just Walk integrates with Apple HealthKit to read and write health data. Apple's privacy policy governs how HealthKit data is protected on your device.
Apple iCloud, Maps & Location Services: Used for optional sync, route maps, and the city lookup described above, under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Apple App Store: Purchases are processed by Apple. See Apple's privacy policy for information about how purchase data is handled.
We do not integrate with any advertising networks, analytics services, AI services, or other third-party data collectors.
Children's Privacy
Just Walk is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address the situation.
Your Rights
Because your data is stored on your device and in your own iCloud account, you have full control over it:
- Access: View your data anytime in the app or Apple Health
- Deletion: Use "Delete All Data" in the app's Settings to erase the app's data from your device and from your iCloud account. Walks saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app
- iCloud Sync: Turn iCloud sync on or off in the app's Settings
- Revoke Access: Disable HealthKit, location, or motion permissions in Settings at any time
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
