Privacy Policy

On World Tech LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Just Split mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
Just Split is designed as a local-first application. Your data is stored on your device and is not uploaded to our servers. We do not operate a backend server for this App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Bill Data: Items, prices, tax, tip, and split calculations you enter into the App. This data is stored locally on your device.
- Receipt Images: Photos of receipts you capture or select for scanning. These images are processed for text extraction and are not stored on our servers.
- Contact Information: Names and contact details from your device’s Contacts, used to assign bill splits to people. This data is accessed only with your permission and is not uploaded to our servers.
- Preferences: Your app settings and preferences, stored locally on your device.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Purchase Status: We use Apple StoreKit 2 to verify whether you have purchased Just Split Pro. Purchase records are managed by Apple and stored locally.
- Advertising Data: If you use the free tier, Google AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization, subject to your App Tracking Transparency choices.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Bill Splitting: To calculate and display bill splits among participants.
- Receipt Scanning: Receipt images are sent to the Google Gemini API for optical character recognition (OCR) to extract bill items and amounts.
- Ad Display: To show advertisements in the free tier via Google AdMob.
- Purchase Management: To verify your Pro purchase status and unlock premium features.
- Payment Requests: To generate payment request messages via SMS or Venmo deep links, at your direction.
3. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services:
3.1 Google Gemini API
Receipt images are sent to the Google Gemini 2.0 Flash API for text extraction. Images are transmitted over HTTPS and are processed according to Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not retain receipt images on any server after processing.
3.2 Google AdMob
The free tier of the App displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and usage data. You can control ad personalization through iOS App Tracking Transparency settings. See Google’s Privacy Policy for details.
3.3 Apple StoreKit 2
In-app purchases are processed through Apple’s StoreKit 2 framework. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and is not accessible to us. See Apple’s Privacy Policy for details.
3.4 Venmo
The App can generate Venmo payment request links using deep linking. We do not process payments or access your Venmo account. Venmo transactions are governed by Venmo’s terms and privacy policy.
3.5 Firebase
The App includes Firebase SDK configuration. Firebase services, if enabled in future updates, would be governed by Firebase’s Privacy Policy. We will update this Privacy Policy before enabling any Firebase data collection.
4. App Tracking Transparency
The App requests your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before allowing third-party services to track your activity across other apps and websites. You can change your tracking preferences at any time in your device’s Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
5. Device Permissions
The App may request access to the following device features:
- Camera: To capture photos of receipts for scanning. Used only when you initiate a scan.
- Photo Library: To select existing receipt photos for scanning.
- Contacts: To select people for bill splitting. Contact data is accessed locally and is not uploaded.
All permissions are optional. You can grant or revoke them at any time in your device’s Settings. The App will function with reduced features if permissions are not granted.
6. Data Storage and Security
Just Split is a local-first application. Your bill data, preferences, and settings are stored on your device using iOS storage mechanisms (UserDefaults, Core Data, and the local file system). We do not operate servers that store your personal data.
When receipt images are sent to the Google Gemini API for processing, they are transmitted over HTTPS encryption. We do not store receipt images beyond the processing session.
7. Data Retention
Since your data is stored locally on your device, you control its retention. You can delete your data at any time by clearing the App’s data in your device settings or by uninstalling the App.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on this page and updating the effective date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
