Theta is made by On World Tech LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Theta camera import app.

The Short Version

Theta has no account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party SDKs, and we run no servers for it. The app talks only to your own camera and to Apple Photos. Your photos go straight from your camera into your Photos library. We don’t collect any of your information.

Information We Don’t Collect

Theta does not collect, store on our side, or transmit:

  • Your photos or videos
  • Photo details such as camera settings, ratings or location
  • Your camera’s name, model or identifiers
  • Personal information or identifiers
  • Location data
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data
  • Contact information

How Theta Connects

  • Your camera only. Theta wakes your paired camera over Bluetooth Low Energy, then joins the camera’s own Wi-Fi network to copy files. The Wi-Fi connection to the camera is encrypted with SSH. Theta does not connect to the internet or to any server of ours.
  • Apple Photos. Files go directly from your camera into your Photos library. They are not sent anywhere else.

Data Stored on Your Device

Theta keeps a local cache on your device: thumbnails of the photos on your camera’s card, so the reel still shows your frames when the camera is asleep, plus your paired cameras and their settings. This data never leaves your device except in your own device backups (for example, iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer), which are handled by Apple under your account, not by us. Deleting the app removes its data from your device. Photos you brought into your library stay there.

Permissions

  • Bluetooth: to wake your camera and switch on its Wi-Fi.
  • Local Network: to talk to your camera over its own Wi-Fi and bring your photos across.
  • Photos (add-only): to save the photos you bring from your camera into Photos. With this permission, Theta cannot read your photo library.

You can change these permissions at any time in your device’s Settings app.

In-App Purchases

Theta Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store and handled by Apple (StoreKit). We do not receive your payment details. Please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy for information about how Apple handles payment data.

Links in the app, such as this policy or our support page, open in Safari. What happens on those websites is covered by their own policies.

Third-Party Services

Theta does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking or other SDKs. We do not share any information with third parties.

Children’s Privacy

Theta is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. The app works without collecting personal information from users of any age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
